Position Summary:
The 2nd Year Electrical Apprentice expands on first-year skillsets, performing more complex commercial electrical tasks with reduced oversight. This position supports rough-in activities, layout work, and early-stage troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and bend EMT, PVC, and rigid conduit with limited supervision.
  • Pull, label, and terminate conductors; assist with low-voltage and basic line-voltage terminations.
  • Demonstrate growing understanding of electrical theory, NEC, and Michigan-specific code requirements.
  • Assist with lighting installations, receptacle layouts, and rough-in phases on commercial projects.
  • Perform simple troubleshooting under guidance from journeymen or foremen.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of apprenticeship hours and coursework.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of 1st-year apprenticeship milestones and RTI coursework.
  • Proficiency with standard electrical tools and basic test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety, PPE use, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ability to follow direction while demonstrating increased independence.
  • On-the-job learning experience hours: 2000-4000 hours
